Supplements vs. Whole Foods As a naturopathic doctor, I took a ton of supplements for my chronic fatigue and digestive problems. Even with all the supplements, I still had cravings, a sluggish digestive system and an assortment of other imbalances. In my own practice, it was challenging to get my patients off their stimulants, even with all the supplements I prescribed to them. Then I discovered Chinese Herbal Foods. After the 2nd day, I stopped taking naps. Over a period of time, my cravings diminished and my digestive system improved. Today, I enjoy a level of health only made possible because I chose to get my nutrients from whole foods instead of supplements. I taught my clients to do the same and I witnessed more diet changes than I had ever seen in my previous practice of prescribing supplements. Are Vitamins the Same As Whole Foods? Are you taking supplements and your diet remains unchanged? The symptoms of malnourishment are fatigue and hunger, and the only cure for malnourishment is whole food. There are 5 essential nutrients contained in a whole food. 1 . Vitamins & Minerals These nutrients are held together by life force or what the Chinese refer to as Qi. German research called it a "light body". As with specialist medicine that treats the body as isolated parts, the plant is torn apart for the purpose of marketing its isolated parts. The light force is destroyed and the nutrients become dormant. Herbal foods are the highest form of whole foods and are more nutrient dense than other foods. Chinese Herbal Foods contain a variety of Eastern fruits, vegetables, seeds, beans, and grains…with the life force in tact! Nature created nutrients bound together and complexed with living enzymes. Separate them, and you have chemicals. Dr. Bernard Jensen describes vitamins as "biological complexes, bundles of enzymes and trace minerals, biological wheels within wheels within wheels ". Is Ascorbic Acid The Same As Vitamin C? The disease of vitamin C deficiency (scurvy) was never cured by the man-made ascorbic acid. It was cured by the food that contained the whole vitamin C complex. In addition to ascorbic acid, the Vitamin C complex found in whole food contains rutin, flavenoids, and a copper based enzyme. Ascorbic acid is just one part of the complex which fights free radicals. Chemically manufactured, ascorbic acid is made from corn syrup and a derivative of sulphuric acid. In other words, sugar and acid. Isolated vitamins are chemicals! When you call the phone number on the back of your vitamin bottle you are calling a laboratory, most likely a pharmaceutical company. Vitamins are not grown in soil plants are. Eat plants and you will be provided with living nutrients, which come from the sun and the earth, provided to you through photosynthesis. Take vitamins and you are giving your liver more chemicals to process. You are also promoting mineral imbalances by taking high doses of isolates. Taking too much calcium throws off magnesium and phosphorus. Too much zinc and niacin lowers copper. In essence, how do you know, and how does the vitamin manufacturer know what your 75 trillion cells need? Taking isolates upsets the delicate balance of vitamin and mineral ratios, causing further deficiencies and toxicity. Isn't the reason why you were taking supplements to begin with was to fill deficiencies and decrease toxicity? Oooops! Eat unadulterated plants and allow the body to fend for itself. Eat concentrated herbal foods with the life force in tact. Discover Eastern fruits and vegetables in a digestible and convenient form just for you. Add water, stir, and let the body do the rest! |
